CommentDELL HAS THE WORST CUSTOMER SERVICE IN THE BUSINESS.
I said that first, because some of you probably have thought that they must sell good parts, so they're a good company.
Well of course they sell some good parts.
The problems happen when you get a bad one, and they have their share of them!

Look through all the customer service complaints in here. There is a reason Dell's rating is so horrible in this forum. It's because of a shockingly poor attitude towards the customer.
I called up because I wanted to send a tv tuner card back.
The first person I spoke to said the system was down. Sorry.
So I called back again, and of course the system was not down, the next person looked up the account.
Now get this, what I just said there happened on three separate occasions with the same card.
Between the original rma, and repeated calls because the card was being shipped with no softare, I wound up calling perhaps 12 times or so.
You bascially hear a different story each time you call.
A sure sign that there is no integrity at Dell anymore.

CommentOn June 10th I opened an account with Dell in hopes of purchasing a computer. I was informed that my account was "locked" due to a problem. What is that problem? Who knows! I have tried on numerous occasions to try and get it resolved but no one can or is even willing to help. I was told first by several representatives and two managers that I would receive a "letter" explaining what was missing or wrong with my account so I could be positively identified. So I waited the thirty plus days for this letter that I was assured was coming to me in hopes of clearing this up. But as I talked to yet another "helpful" rep today I was told the letter was not coming and was not a policy of Dell Financial. So there was no way for me to find this supposed problem and do anything about it. and I was also told I could not even close my own account! I find this to be totally absurd! The lack of customer service I have received from Dell is at a level I have never experienced nor do I wish to have the pleasure again! My wife and I purchased two computers in April (paid cash) and had planned to buy additional units. We still plan on buying additional units, just not from Dell. I will also make it my personal mission to tell of my experience to "EVERYONE" I come into contact with! Including my ex-wife in Oklahoma who DEll called looking for me. I was divorced in 1997 and have no earthly idea where Dell Financial got the number! This was a complete invasion of my privacy and highly illegal to let my ex-wife know of my financial endeavors! Instead of Dell Financial it should be called Dell Futility because that is what this whole experience has been for me.

CommentI recently had a horrible experience purchasing from Dell. The item in question was a Canon digital camera. Upon checkout, a message was displayed, promoting the use of a Dell Preferred Account. If I used my DPA as the payment method, I would receive 3% off of my total. I chose this and submitted my order. Checking my order status online the next day, I see that the 3% discount was not applied despite having the purchased posted to my Dell Preferred Account. It was at this time I made my initial inquiry via email. The response was that I would have to call customer support. This is where the fun began... After being bounced around between different depts. and call centers in both India and Texas (six customer service reps so far), I finally get a straight answer from someone: In order to apply the 3% discount, they would have to cancel my order and create a new one, which would of course, change my estimated ship and delivery dates. This was most unacceptable as the camera was purchased in anticipation of an upcoming vacation. I told them that would not be acceptable, and that I would need to make a complaint. The customer service rep (#6) politely complied and transferred me yet again. On hold for a while this time. Finally, I get to rep #7, who asks for my order number and transfers me yet again. Ok, now I'm finally talking to the 8th person since my initial call (9 if you count the email respondant) I explain everything quite clearly, that's I've spoken to multiple people and that having my order canceled in order to receive the discount as advertised was not feasible. I asked this individual, that I would like some compensation, a coupon code for a future purchase or something similar, to make up for not apply to discount as it should have been, and for having me transferred so many times just to get a straight answer. The rep said this was not possible, I made the statement "Why not, it should be" and it was then that she refused to answer me. The call was not disconnected (by the way, that happened earlier in this escapade), she just refused to assist me any further. I finally had to hang up, leaving me in a very sour mood.

CommentI had good experience with Dell.com. Needed to purchase a case and because I had some Dell dollars from a previous desktop purchase promotion, went with Dell. Prices for their accessories are OK, not the cheapest but in line with other online vendors. Case arrived promptly, but was missing the cpu air guide (not in the box, manufacturer's mistake). contacted customer service by e-mail, they replied next day and shipped me a replacement case. Everything went smoothly and customer service was very responsive. Note that I bought this through Dell EPP program, customer service might be less efficient for Dell home. Overall, I was pretty satisfied with the purchase and with the customer service.

CommentI will say that I have had no problems with shipping or the products I have purchased from Dell. My problem is with their DFS. For those unaware, Dell Financial Services is worse than any credit card company I have ever dealt with.

My problems started when Dell raised my credit limit by $2000. I felt uncomfortable with this much credit so asked if they would reduce it by $1000. Well, the person I emailed got confused, I got confused and the credit limit ended up being about %10 above my balance. I called someone to ask if they would straighten this out and was told they would need to run a credit check to raise my credit limit. This made no sense considering they had just raised it $2000 without my knowledge.

This new limit was not a problem until the "fees" day came around, the finance charges put me overlimit. Since I didn't realize this, and did not pay extra to bring my balance down before the 1st of the month, I also got accessed an overlimit fee. Now the past two months, they have been raising my monthly payment. I have been paying on this account for almost 2 years without reviewing my statements each month. All I did was check every few months to get my balance so I could figure when I can have it paid off or when I could purchase another item.

Another item will never be purchased from Dell again. They have charged me late fees because I did not pay the full amount last month. This also added an overlimit fee. If this had happened with one of my credit card accounts, they would have said yes, we will remove it this time. And they do. NOT DELL! It is not their policy to remove a fee even if the customer apologizes and says they will be more careful.

Do not finance anything through Dell. The customer service will just repeat the same thing over and over. Apparently they have something in front of them that they read, and even if it does not pertain to the moment, they will keep repeating it. They are NOT customer friendly and will never get extra money from me again, NOR will they ever get an order from me again. As soon as I receive my government rebate check, I will be paying them off so they won't make anymore money from me.

BEWARE!

CommentI placed an order for a XPS M1530 laptop on 6/11/08 and was originally given an estimated ship date of 6/24/08. As I had ordered from Dell in the past and had always received the items before the estimated date I didn't worry to much about having a ship date two weeks away. On 6/24/08, I received an email informing me that the ship date had moved to 7/1/08. I called customer service to see if there was any additional information I could get to determine if the new ship date was realistic. Unfortunately, the customer service rep was pretty much useless. The only information he could give me was that the delay was due to "high demand" and he didn't leave me with much confidence that the new ship date would be met.

CommentI very recently "built" my own laptop on dell.com -- I went with the XPS M1530 -- I added extra memory, a better video card, a better HD monitor...spent close to $2000. Now, i am not so upset that this product ordered on 6/19/08 will not be SHIPPED OUT until 7/8/08 -- a little surprised, but not that upset. No, what upset me was; 3 days after i ordered, as i was checking online for my order status, I saw that for the same XPS system, but with less bells and whistels ($1400 system) Dell is offering a free upgrade from a 6 cell battery to a 9 cell battery. I emailed customer service to find out if this offer could be applied to my order -- afterall, i'm paying more but getting less? The reply email said "there is nothing that can be done" -- except, i could cancel my order, then build another computer with the promotion, thus starting the 21 day order-to-ship process all over too. I thought that this was rediculous. I then jumped online to chat with a customer service rep, as instructed on the reply email - even provided with a clickable link -- the guy i was chatting with said "there is nothing that can be done..." But, not only did he not have a solution, he was flat out rude about it -- He told me that I was chatting with the wrong sector of customer service -- but DELL provided the link?!?! - I asked for his manager, was told he would tell me the same. while i was waiting to begin this battle of wits, i did get on the phone with dell -- and waited and waited and waited -- meanwhile the chat rep tells me, no foolin, "if you just call that number, you would have been done already! What more do you want me to do?" First of all, He didn't do anything, so more of nothing is still nothing. Second, as i told him, i was on the phone but "i havn't even gotten started by now" -- I emailed a letter of complaint to his manager -- but wait, there's more!! Finally, a woman answers the call. After i calmly explained my situation and dissapointment, i was told "nothing can be done" I am starting to think that "Nothing Can Be Done" is Dell's new slogan. I asked to speak with her manager. Who, no foolin, told me nothing can be done AND he was going to disconnect the call so that "we could answer the calls from our valued customers"-- and he disconnected -- I have never been so disrespected by any business before...not even in White Castle! I canelled my order and bought a comperable HP , saving $$ and will receive it within 10 business days -- Not only that, and not like it will do anything, but a well composed letter, telling this story, has gone out to EVERY executive at DELL including the man himself, Michael Dell -- not to mention, Ny Times and Newsday -- my friends in the newspaper business are gonna help spread the word -- "Dell...Nothing Can Be Done"

CommentI ordered a canon xti from dell useing the preferred customer plan. After the gave me a line of credit I made a purchase. The item I was told was out of stock and would be shipped at a later date. Later I called to check on the order. I was told they canceled it. I was told they needed some info and that it would take 30 days for a letter to come. I ask why they could not take the info while talking to me. They had no reason. So I ask to speak to a supervisor and was told they would just tell me the same thing. I said then let them tell me. I was put on hold for long time and had to tell the same thing to 5 people. Still I got no help. I was a fan of dell untill this. That was the worst customer service I have ever seen. They have no respect for the customer. And I for one will never use dell after this. Never spend your money with people who don't treat you well.

CommentI had nothing but a great experience with this order. I shopped around and Dell happened to have this camera I wanted and its not a Dell brand, so I was surprised not only that they sell it...but it was on sale for $40+ less than other sites that are typically the cheapest. PLUS there was a deal for free shipping. I saved almost $90 because I happened across their site.

It was not in stock at the time and I called and had no wait time to ask when it would be shipped. Unfortunately it would be 2 weeks or less. I didn't mind because as a non-Dell product, I wouldn't expect it to be in stock all the time.

I was shocked to receive an email not a week later saying its shipped! I received it today (which was the day it was supposed to be SHIPPED from Dell!).

I have nothing but praise for Dell!

CommentI have a very unpleasant experience with dell recently.

I called dell to order the silver Canon Rebel XSi digital camera kit with lens on May 3rd by using the 15% off coupons advertised in the dealsea.com. The representative helped me to place the order although it showed the status of temporarily out of stock in the official website at that time. The representative told me it would take 10 business day to ship out the
camera. However, the camera was delayed twice. And the latest shipping date was June 3rd. When informed by the delaying again, I called dell several times and the presentative Stelyn Invena told me that she would help me to monitor the order and would send me an email as soon as the order shipped out and she also upgraded the 3-5 days delivery method to the next day delivery. At that time, she told me that the silver camera was not available, but they did have the black same camera kit in stock. I insisted on
buying the silver one at that time. Only several days after that call (not until June 3rd), I
received the email from Invena telling me the order was cancelled due to the reason that "the manufacturer won’t be able to fulfill the order request anytime soon because of shortage on that particular itemand." The only choice I had was to buy another camera from dell's website. However, I checked the dell's website at that time, dell was still selling the silver camer kit as well as black one on the website(with a price higher than I ordered previously and the status is not out of stock). I tried to call Invena through the extension number she gave me on last Monday afternoon. But nobody picked up the phone. I could only reach the voice mail. Then I tried to call dell's other represetatives. One guy named Chase (I am not sure if the spelling is correct) helped me. I told him that my order was delayed for one month and suddenly got cancelled and I was very unsatisfied with the way dell dealing with their customers. I asked if I could buy the black same camera kit with
the same price as I ordered on May 3rd. He asked me for the coupon I used and I found the coupon in the old coupon page in dealsea.com and gave him the coupon code. He said it seemed that the coupon was still working and he would contact customer care department to see if he could place the new order for me and he promised to call me back with the cell phone number I left him (I double checked with him about my cell phone number). I waited the whold afternoon, but he didn't call me back. I tried to
call him by the phone he gave me, but nobody picked up the phone and there was only voice
mail. Then I tried to call Invena to see if she was back on business. However, I still
could not reach her and I left a voice message on her phone to ask her to call me back. On
that afternoon, I called Chase and Invena several times, but could reach neither of them. I left voice messages on both of their phones and nobody called me back. It was already
something happened a week ago. I was totally disappointed by what those representatives did
and by the fact that dell disrespect their customers. Finally, I gave up and ordered the
camera from somewhere else. Overall, this experience is horrible!!

Some words for dell: Please respect your customers. If you can not sell the products to your customers with a low price, then don't play with them with that price!! If you can not fulfill your customers' needs, please say no as soon as possible, don't pool around with your customers and waste their time. For your representatives, if they really would like to help the customers, please do respect every call from them, don't ignore the messages or play any tricks with them!!

CommentHorrible experience. I ordered the Canon Digital SLR xsi Camera with 18-55mm lens, an additional 100mm lens and a ring flash. I added two stackable coupons for 15% and 10% for a stacked savings of 23.5%. Dell shipped the lens and the ring flash within days of purchase but never sent me email notification or tracking number. DHL left the packages outside my back door in the rain and 90 degree Florida sun over a three day weekend. I called Dell and complained about the horrible shipping service. The guy that I spoke to was well mannered and handled it well. The camera was then delayed week after week after week. Each week, the same rep would call me and update me on a new ship date. I began wondering if they just didn't want to sell it to me because of the stackable coupon situation. Eventually, I get a message left on my answering machine from a different rep saying "I'm sorry, your order has been canceled." I don't understand why it has been canceled if I have been confirming it every week over the phone with the first rep.

I hate dell. Once, long ago I bought a desktop computer when the company was in it's prime... but now there is nothing but horrible service, delay and inevitable disappointment awaiting consumers.

Please don't buy from them. I don't care how many coupons you purchase and stack together, they'll try and shaft you in the long run. Good luck

CommentI ordered an additional AC adapter for my Dell XPS M1330 laptop back in November. This morning it stopped working (the second AC adapter for this laptop which has broken in the 10 months I've owned the sysem). I called Dell to replace it, and was informed that if Tech Support couldn't fix the adapter, Dell would not replace it as it has been more than 90 days since the date of purchase. Tech Support told me it simply was a bad adapter, and that they couldn't help me.

So apparently the message conveyed by Dell is that they will not stand behind the quality of their products for longer than three months. If it breaks afterwards, you're out of luck.

CommentPlaced an order for a 2707WFP (27" UltraSharp monitor) on 5/22 and it arrived 5/27 via DHL - incredibly fast considering the Memorial Day holiday weekend, and with free shipping. Xavier L. gave me great customer service in answering my questions about the monitor and supporting hardware needs and placed my order. I especially liked the fact that I could call him direct at his extension, which made the entire process that much easier and more pleasant.

The monitor itself is great - it took a couple days to adjust to the size (up from my old 22") and very sharp indeed. Comes with a standard 3 year warranty. So far, so good - I'm loving this monitor.

CommentOrdered a Canon XTI (body only) from DEll and received it 2 days later. They had the lowest price I found from a respectable place, and were offering free shipping. I ended up calling them to make sure that it was indeed in stock, and ended up purchasing it from the phone operator. Aside from them asking if I wanted a Dell credit card (w/a $50 Dell gift card), a warranty, and some accessories, the soft sale was pretty easy going. The only downside was having to pay state sales tax. They ended up giving me free 2nd day fed ex, even though the on-line offer showed only regular ups was free.

CommentI recently purchased the Dell 2408WFP monitor. It is gorgeous. It is stylish-black with silver highlights. No dead pixels and mine didn't really need calibration. Although, with some tweaking, I can probably have it even sharper. It is easy to setup. I had it connected in about 5 minutes.

The ordering process was easy and shipping was fast.

I only wish that I could say that all my experiences with Dell were this pleasant.

CommentIf you are looking for someone to stand behind their products, do not buy from this company. Long story (of course) but the carrying case I bought with my laptop started coming apart after five uses. Because it was 7 days beyond their 21-day warranty period, the company would not replace the product, nor even comfirm that it was abnormal for a briefcase to last for less than one month. Lots of conversations with some very nice Indian folks, but all they could do was read from a script. I wrote to Michael Dell, and guess what: a call from the Indian customer service making sure I understood their 21-day policy! Amazing!

CommentWe purchased 2 Dell laptops on 4/21 in anticipation of our tax rebates. My wife wanted a pink Inspiron and I went with a Vostro 1500. Both machines arrived on Monday 4/28. No shipping problems - the machines arrived about 3 days sooner than promised. They both seem to be pretty decent computers although the Inspiron, purchased out of the home and home office menu, was loaded with crapware. Once I stripped the useless programs from the machine and installed Open Office and AVG, it runs pretty well. The Vostro seems to be a very solid low end machine and certainly is a tremendous improvement over the old Compaq N150 I was running at work.

I know that Dell is the company everybody loves to hate, but I've got to say that I'm pretty satisfied with my buying experience. We took care to buy something "off the rack" (the only addition I made to the Vostro was a bluetooth card)and we didn't change our minds two or three times about what we wanted after we had placed our order. So it looks like Dell got it right in our case. I don't know if we'll be as lucky if we need service, but that's another story if and when it happens.

CommentBe cautious to place order at Dell. My order was cancelled because they claim it was a price mistake. Oh, well, as a seller, dell can always do that if they feel that the profit margin is not to their satisfactory. It is good for them, bad for us. When a seller keeps this policy, how could he get a good review??

CommentI purchased a Dell monitor, and later they sent me a $25 coupon with the only restriction being I had to make a Electronics & Accessories purchase without a PC (ie a separate order from a PC), and that I was still required to pay taxes and shipping. I purchased an item that was $24.99. The online system accepted my coupon code, gave me a confirmation page that said the item was $6.34 (what shipping and tax came up as--it subtracted the 24.99 as I expected, not $25 from 24.99). My email confirmation [which is manually sent by Dell when they fill the order] had the coupon listed as being -24.99, but then the total price was still $31.33. I called and asked them about it, but they said the order had already gone through and they could not issue me a partial refund because the coupon was not applicable to the purchase, even though there were only 2 conditions, both of which I had met.

I ended up returning the item, which cost me $6, and they gave me a full credit (including original shipping charge), but initially they were only going to credit me the $24.99 purchase price and re-issue me a coupon that expired in 3 months. I really only purchased the item to purchase something, since everything in their store is overpriced compared to buying on sale somewhere else, after you factor in that they don't ship free, and that you still pay tax.

Basically billing is terrible. They couldn't issue a credit even because shipping already sent out the item. Really, it's two different departments.

To make matters worse, they didn't have my coupon code on file even though it was applied to the order, and they were not familiar with the current promotions. I offered to send them a PDF of the email in which the coupon code was sent, but they declined, stating I should take that issue up with Marketing.

CommentNot 1420 Inspironed
Feel a bit like a lemming marching off the cliff as I listened to friends talking about the wonderful deals they were getting from Dell computers on great machines and how much money they were saving working with this great company. Of course most of these people do not have electricity in their homes and a computer is something that counts. Blinded by the obvious fog and lack of inspiration I purchased a Dell Inspiron 1420 without reading any reviews on the machine (just looked at the processor) and I do know all that follows is my fault. When my machine reach 80 centigrade or 176f as measured with a digital thermometer under the machine I figured it was time to read about the machine and in Dell’s words:The 1420 is a consumer machine not to be used all the time Feeling insprioned about this info I contacted customer service but found out Dell customer service was a consumer machine not to be used all the time. They asked me my operating system and all kind of stupid questions and I kept telling them the machine was throwing a spark five inches when plugged in. Guess it was drawing a little current. Not quite hot enough to pouch an egg but give it some time. They hooked me up with an engineer in India after about 25 phone calls and a few hours on the phone. She took over my machine and sped up the fan. What a great idea. Now I can use it as a foot warmer. By the time I finally convinced someone at Dell the machine was a fire hazard it was running at 100c or 212f hot enough the coatings were coming off the cover and the hard disk was fried loosing data and of course you know I had to cook a couple of eggs just cuse I could.

Dell in its infinite wisdom sent me a new computer as I have the four year door to door international warranty. The trouble is I was working as an engineering consultant in Thailand at time and the only contact Dell gave me was the numbers published on their International Dell Service website and these listing were for phone sex. Dell has to be making some money on this as I have told them about the numbers repeatedly for over a year and they have not corrected it and only expanded the number of countries service by this phone number. So for a really good time just contact Dell International SERVICE! (Great Name!) at http://www.dell.com/content/topics/global.aspx/services/en/international_support?c=us&cs=19&l=en&s=dhs&~section=numbers#asia_pacific for that titillating tango you have been searching for. To be specific the number is 800-22893355 and you will notice most of the countries in Asia use this number. I never actually used the phone sex number so can not tell you if Dell is Supporting phone sex with Asian or Caucasian women. You know it is over the phone and they could be faking Asian.

So got the new machine and it has Windows Vista on it (God) which I did not order of course as a person who actually uses a computer would be crazy to have this operating system on a functional machine. Three weeks of work on getting vista off the machine, the right drivers in and to XP and of course I am back to the fact this machine was not designed to be used more then as a paper weight. Check out the Micro Express IFL9025 now that’s a machine, Top Rated! Moral of the storey read your Reviews before you buy and best of computing to you! T

CommentOrdered XPS 1330 laptop from Dell Outlet, got great price with all the specs. I wanted. Unit arrived in perfect condition. I've ordered four PC's from Dell in the past six months. All working just fine. BUT, I have noticed that Dell has recently changed customer service demeanor and is not offering as much "service". Example: 4 mos. ago ordered outlet desktop. Day after order, Dell offered 15% off same outllet unit. I called Dell (India-chat) and was credited that 15% off of my purchase. Most recent laptop, same circs., called Dell (unknown voice)was told Dell no longer offering to apply day-later discount.

CommentI purchased an inspiron 1720 laptop from dell for my husband for christmas. After 3 and a half months of use, it just turned it self off and would no longer turn on. They are nothing but a problem to deal with, they transfer you numerous times when u call with nobody being the right person until they just hang up on you. No one wants to deal with the problem and nobody care or even knows anything about computers. They are rude and stupid.
We also purchased in january a hard disk carrier. when ordering my husband made sure to ask them what does it come with. we made sure that it came with the screws and connector. It came with nothing, and shipping cost $15.00. we call them back and they tell us we have to pay for the screws and connector despite them telling us earlier that they all come with it. They go on to tell us that the screws are not in stock and they will not put an order in for us. They say that we could call back in a few months if we like, they may have them then???? and then we would have to pay shipping again, another $15.00.
I regret purchasing from Dell, and will never purchase from them again. Their products are terrible, their customer service is worse.

CommentWell despite what was said on this board, i found dell to be a good place to buy from. (although my review is simply based around the purchase and delivery of the item)

I purchased a inspiron 530 on 4/10 around midnight. i received it on 4/16. I found this deal on a forum i belong too, and people were mentioning that if you order the 24" monitor, you will probably get a delay on the build.
Dell emailed me when my item shipped with a tracking number.
i installed a few programs and speed tested everything to make sure i got what i ordered, and everything was as stated on the order.
As others stated, dell does pump the machine with gobs of spyware, so run a few programs on it to fully remove them, but this isnt such an issue due to the fact every major manufacturer will do this.
After reading the horror stories of dells cust service, i will mainly be doing any non major repairs myself out of pocket, but i will update this with any further information.

CommentOrdered an SLR camera on 4/2 for my upcoming vacation. After one week, the order was still in production. During the week, I sent Dell three emails, only the first email was replied.
Then on 4/9, I called DELL. The CSR said she would put a request to expedite the order. But later that day, when I checked my order online I saw my order was cancelled. I've never received any email regarding the cancellation. Dell even didn't say a "sorry".
This should not be a price error for several reasons. First, Dell had priced same or even lower several times for the same product within one month. Second, it's EPP price. Lower prices make sense. Last but not the least, Dell shipped many many orders.
I had been waiting for the camera and then buy lens/cards. Dell just wasted my one week time and ruined my 8-month baby's first vacation.
The worst experience with Dell ever!

CommentI wholeheartedly CANNOT recommend Dell due to their underhanded tactics.

I placed an order with Dell at 5:18PM on a particular day. About 2 hours, 15 minutes later I tried to cancel that same order and was given a run-around about the system being down and to call back in 4 hours. I asked about the hours of operation and the fellow said they close at 9PM central. It happened to be about 7:20PM central at the time.

I was told I could cancel online by sending an email, I did so. I later received an email stating the order was in the shipping process and could not be canceled. I replied to the email my concerns and stated I would no longer be doing business with Dell because of the dirty, underhanded treatment. In the email Dell sent to me they tried to relive me by telling me they cvan setup a merchandise return process. They not only want me to be out the money for the undesired order, they also want me to out the product itself by it being lost in the mail or at their processing center. That's pretty low. I know how disreputable retailers are with returns, they are very prone to losing things.

As far as the order being in the shipping process, that means in about a week the order will be shipped and in another 4 days to a week I'll have it.

I despise retailers that resort to these kind of tactics and won't tolerate them. Their gain of less than $200 has caused them to lose thousands from all of the business I would have done and, hopefully, all of the people I tell my experience to. I am tired of devils who are money hungry and care nothing about support.

CommentI have purchased 3 computers,1 PDA and a printer and all orders went well and were received as planned or sooner, inregards to mt last order,a Dell 926 printer, the the reviews were wrong, small text print is fine and not as reported, yes you have to adjust settings and play with it, but the point being is that for a $100.00 or a $51.99 as I Paid for it, it is a completely Great printer. I, ve seen too many neg reports about Dell, I have not had the problems that so many have, at any level-ordering,customer servise, products,or tech help. is it always a great and postive expereancy? no-they are large and have made mistakes, but nothing that customer servise was,int willing to correct, I am a happy customer with all that they have done and will continue to buy from them.

CommentUnbelievably, you cannot cancel an order for an off-the-shelf consumer electronics item that will be out of stock for over two weeks!

I placed an order on 4/4 for a camcorder. The website noted it was not in stock; the website requires placing an order before an actual ship date is provided. I placed the order and saw that the estimated ship date was 17 days out. I called customer service to see if they could provide some information on the actual range of ship dates. They indicated that 17 days was the best estimate at this time; I could check back in a few days to see if it might change.

I called back two business days later, when the product was still out of stock and the ship date was still two weeks out. I wanted to cancel at this point and look for the item elsewhere. They told me I could not cancel. I would have to receive the item, have my card charged, and then process a return at my expense.

Their reason? "The order has reached a point where we cannot cancel the order." For an out of stock item that can't ship for two weeks? A company that has one of the most modern ordering systems?

As a consumer, you must understand that Dell is manipulating you. Some % of returns won't come back due to the hassle, so they make money, and they make money on the float on your money between the time they charge your card and the time they refund you.

CommentEVERY dell computer that I've encountered are full of failures.

The first dell that became the home computer was a Dell Dimension L500r. It worked but at the end the blue screen was insane. Turns out the idiot that designed it put the power supply directly on top of the fan. This was causing it to overheat.

The speakers that came with it were DOA and dell refuse to replace them.

2nd was a work computer, I had to turn it off and restart. The blinking amber came up, the power supply gave out after less than 1 year.

3rd was a friend's computer that I had to repair, broken power supply. I bought an excellent power supply of high standards that was more than 75% less than the cheapo one dell sells. I was annoyed by finding out dell split the ports and I needed an adopter. What kind of cheap tactic is this?

4th computer was my aunt's sorry excuse for a laptop. She was like it is two years old. Maybe they only last that long. My laptop is 6yrs old and it runs faster than that thing ever did.

I was very happy that I never used my own money for this piece of crap that dell calls a computer. All the problems, all the headaches...

I would cheer on the Day Dell goes out of business. Remember it's not dell it's "dHell did you buy that sorry worthless junk for?"

Never have I seen such a sorry excuse of a pc. Ask someone that builds computers if they think Dell sells good pc. They will laugh. A few are decent, but it's overpriced.

CommentI just purchased a laptop with the help of customer service. Sales atleast are still done by americans. I have had to work with both the indian customer support and with the Service Department. Luckly both times I come out satisfied. The India Rep actually assisted me in getting my issue solved. When I sent back my laptop to get the Video Card replaced. I was very suprised to find out that they had also repaired a broken Switch on the Card Slot. and Also Replaced the Keyboard Cover that was slightly bent. I had a 3 year warrenty with the Accidental damage and i was very satisfied with the service i got from it. With my Recent XPS purchase last week I got it with the 4 year Warrenty. While i dont expect this one review to counter the obvious flaws in Dells Service and Support. There are certainly cases where it works the way it should.

CommentWorst customer support I've ever experienced -- quite a surprise for Dell! I ordered a laptop and Norton Anti-Virus for my daughter. Salesperson coded it as Laptop and NetNanny. I couldn't get anybody to correct the order. One customer rep accused me of lying and trying to change my order. (Would I order netNanny for a single teenager?). Twice I tried to escalate, but I never could succeed. Numerous messages on their help box were not answered.

This is not a huge issue, but the fact that they were so incredibly unresponsive leads me to tell all my corporate clients to stop buying from Dell.

Any company can make a mistake. It's how they correct it -- or not -- that is significant.

CommentPlease do not buy from Dell - that company rips off American's. I purchased a laptop from them in 2006, with an "Extended 2 year warranty". The laptop kept falling apart and they finally sent me another piece of crap in Sept. 07. Now, that has fallen apart and they say my warranty - that I paid an extra $250 dollars for has expired. They included their 1 year warranty (which comes with the system) in with my 2 year Extended Warranty - this really only gave me an extra 1 year as oppose to an actual additional two years as promised. I WILL NEVER DO BUSINESS WITH DELL AGAIN - NOR WOULD I EVER RECOMMEND THEM TO ANYONE. IF ANYTHING, I'D TELL EVERYONE TO LOOK THE OTHER WAY WHEN THEY HERE THE NAME "DELL"!!!!

CommentDell will rip you off! DO NOT BUY DELL!
Dell had an offer for a $200 gift card for buying an XPS system in Dec 2007. I recieved the computer in record time -- but I have yet to see the $200 gift card (it is now the end of March 2008). I have emails from Dell confirming that I should get the $200 gift card. But they refuse to send it. After numerous calls and emails I've given up and have determined that I have bought my last Dell.
DO NOT BUY DELL!

CommentVery dissatisfied with Dell and would never buy or recommend to anyone. I order a Dimension 530 on 3/4 and used a 30% off coupon. After several days I noticed the tower portion of the order was still waiting auth. from my bank. I called my bank and they stated Dell got auth. & immediatley reversed the charges. I called Dell, which is a horribe thing to do. You get routed to Pakistan, Phillipines or India.(Isn't Dell an American Corp.) and they are all named Bob, Christine or Mark. Now come on who are they kidding. They are trained very well to say"I'm sorry I do apologize for the inconenience". I counted this 23 times in one conversation. Anyway they stated they had no idea why this happened and it appeared that there was a hold on my card. No biggie I thought and the girl named Christine removed the block. After 48hrs my order status was still the same. I called back and this time the gentleman stated it was not a funding issue but my Nvidia upgrade was delaying the order. Ok. Fine. All is well. Wrong. Next morning I get an E-Mail that my order was cancelled by Dell for lack of authorization. Now mind you my bamk already approved the withdrawl. I called Dell for the umpteenth time and spoke with Christine again who in turn placed a 3-way call to my bank. She kept the girl from my bank on the phone for 48 mins. My bank assured her that they approved it and dell reversed the charges 6 times, twice on 3/6. Now the funny thing is, this was a three part order under one invoice and the other parts were approved. She said the order had to be cancelled and a new one placed.(more delay) She could not do it because of the coupon & transfered my to sales where the lady was glad to help. Except for the fact that the Dell coupon I used on 3/4 was expired now. She could not and would not assist in any way. The complaint was filed and was escalated to Sunny Sharma who was the worst customer service manager I have ever spoken with. In the end after 14 days they would not give the 30% on another order. I ordered the computer within the time frame of the coupon. The mistake was theirs(they wont admit it) and they wont take care of the customer. I think Dell has gotten to big for their britches knowing that my order is nothing to them because 1000's of other orders were being placed. I suggest to purchase from another company.
This is classic bait and switch inwhich they got sued for by the AG Office from NY State. Do some research and you'll find Dell is horrible!

CommentKeep your laptop in the best condition possible because you'll have a very hard time getting Dell technical support to help you out. Of course you have to speak with 7 different customer service reps before you finally get to the right person. And of fource it takes 30 minutes to get in touch with a support specialist once you're finally put through to the right person. But aside from that, this is where Dell really messed up: the specialist that I spoke with on the phone was trying to sell the extended warranty to me. He told me that the $250 extended warranty would cover any Dell computer in my household. The next time I had a problem with another Dell laptop in my house (my mother's), I called Dell technical support again and I was told that my extended warranty would not cover her computer. Case closed. I was lied to, duped. Dell would offer no compensation for this mistake, regardless of the fact that I'd spent $3,000.00 on Dell equipment within the last 4 years. Thanks a lot, Dell. You've made one satisfied customer out of me. People, please take my advice and spend the extra few dollars to buy an Apple. Customer service there is much better and their laptops don't crash as much :)

CommentOrdered a Dell 19" monitor (S199WFP), it came promptly, exactly as advertised. No problems whatsoever, price was as low as I could find anywhere, thanks, and excellent job Dell. I also purchased a keyboard (2000198894022) from them, same deal, excellent value, arrived in just a few days. What more could I have asked for?

CommentBought two thinks from them, was supposed to get on 14-18. Today I got an email that said one of the products would be delayed 10 days 3/21/08 thats when its supposed to be shipped! Also they didn't say what was happening to the other product and I don't know because they didn't say anything about it.

Edit: The mp3 player came around when it was supposed to but the camera was delayed 1 week or 2. When I called for help about what was going on I found out that my camera was back ordered not the mp3 player which was opposite of the website. The mp3 player came packaged with only a little bit of paper in a box, and the camera came without any packing just in its box in a box.

I don't think I will purchase from there again, if i do it wouldn't be anything dell.
