Sony DSC W55 Review

(01/04/07)
Summary: The Sony DSC W55 is one of the less expensive, pocket sized digital cameras. It has a lot of good things going for it and if you want a digital camera that offers all the usual features and good value for money as well then this is certainly an attractive option. Read the full review
Verdict: I found it difficult to find fault with the Sony DSC W55. For a pocket sized digital camera it is relatively inexpensive. Despite that it has all the regular features you would expect to find and is well worth a close look.
Pros: ; ¤ Value for money ¤ Add conversion lenses ¤ Viewfinder ¤ Overall picture quality ¤ Large internal memory
Cons: ; ¤ Redeye in indoor portrait

DCRP Review: Sony Cyber-shot DSC-W55

Summary: Read the full review
Pros: ; Stylish, compact metal body, comes in four colors; USB 2.0 High Speed protocol supported; Very good photo quality, low noise levels through ISO 400; Support for conversion lenses, filters, and external flash; Optical viewfinder (a rarity in this class); Robust performance; Great battery life; AF-assist lamp; accurate (but slow) low
Cons: ; Flimsy plastic door over memory card / battery compartment; Full manual only on CD-ROM; Images can be "fuzzy" at times due to noise reduction, especially at higher ISOs; Needs more manual controls, especially for white balance and shutter speed (see photo tests to see why); Redeye a problem; No Mac image browser included; Unimpressive
